I was hired to document a series of commercial properties located in the foothills above Stanford University, along Sand Hill Road—one of the most influential business corridors in Silicon Valley. Known for its dense concentration of venture capital firms, Sand Hill Road has become a metonym for the venture capital industry itself. Nearly every major Silicon Valley company has benefited from early-stage funding from firms headquartered here.

This assignment focused on creating clear, accurate imagery that reflects both the physical setting and the broader significance of these properties. The foothill landscape, mature trees, and restrained architecture all contribute to a sense of permanence and credibility that aligns closely with the financial institutions operating in this area.

As a commercial and architectural photographer, my approach was to balance context with detail—showing how each property fits into the surrounding environment while highlighting the design elements that matter most to investors, tenants, and property managers. These photographs are intended for marketing and presentation materials, where visual clarity and professionalism are essential.

Projects like this underscore the role photography plays in shaping how commercial real estate is perceived. By documenting properties along Sand Hill Road, I’m not just photographing buildings, but helping convey the stature and influence of a location that has played a central role in the growth of Silicon Valley.
