In addition to my work as a commercial real estate photographer in Northern California, I’m often asked to create business portraits that support how firms present themselves in a competitive market. This assignment came through Colliers Commercial Real Estate in Oakland, where I was contracted to photograph one of their teams specializing in industrial properties throughout Alameda County.
The photo session included both group portraits and individual images, designed for use across marketing materials, proposals, and online profiles. Rather than working in a generic studio setting, the decision was made to photograph the team on site, reinforcing their connection to the industrial sector they represent.
The location was a state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Hayward with a footprint exceeding 200,000 square feet. The scale and modern infrastructure of the building provided a strong visual backdrop, adding context and credibility to the portraits without overpowering the subjects.
For projects like this, the goal is to strike a balance between professionalism and approachability. Clean composition, controlled lighting, and thoughtful use of environment help ensure the portraits feel authentic while still polished. Combining business portraits with an understanding of commercial spaces allows me, as a commercial real estate photographer in Northern California, to create imagery that aligns people and place into a cohesive visual story.
