In a busy South of Market corridor, this 100-year-old San Francisco building reflects the straightforward, workmanlike character that has long defined the neighborhood. Its exterior carries the weight of history, while the surrounding streets underscore SoMa’s continued role as a place where things get made, built, and reimagined.
I was hired to photograph the newly renovated second floor, which has been fully updated to attract a new generation of tenants. The renovation respects the building’s industrial roots while introducing clean, functional improvements that make the space viable for contemporary office and creative use.
This property has supported a wide range of tenants over the decades—from coffee importers and light manufacturing to more recent technology companies—and that adaptability remains one of its strengths. My focus was on showing how the refreshed space maintains that flexibility, highlighting volume, structure, and practical details that speak to a range of possible uses.
The resulting images are intended to support leasing efforts by clearly communicating both history and readiness. In a neighborhood known for reinvention, this building stands as an example of how older commercial spaces can evolve without losing the character that made them relevant in the first place.
